A Boat Wedding at Highfields Park Nottingham
Okay – Need to admit something here! This wasn’t a Actual Nottingham boat wedding! I really wanted to do an editorial shoot which everything wedding related was brought by charity shops! The reason behind this photo shoot was that I wanted to highlight the fact that, people who got married many years ago, donate their wedding items to charity and just because they’re second-hand (I prefer to call it vintage!) it doesn’t mean it’s any less beautiful!
With the boat wedding’s chosen location being at Highfields Park in Nottingham it was the perfect backdrop for a vintage-esque wedding. However none of us was very experienced rowers which turned it out to be completely hilarious when the ‘bride and groom’ was either going backwards, around in circles, or rowing straight into a tree! None the less, we got there in the end and I managed to capture some beautiful shots of a couple, very much in love!
One thing I forgot to mention though, which gave me a sleepless night beforehand was I’m terrified of water I can’t see through (One too many JAWs movies I think!) so I was an absolute wreck getting in, and the slightest movement of the boat gave me a heart attack! and also the boat was ever so slightly leaking.. casually!
Who agrees, How perfect do these two look! Supplied mostly from Charity shops in a beautiful 40’s style wedding dress, the bride looks absolutely stunning for just a fraction of the price! The wedding dress was only £20 and it was all original vintage lace and netting, paired with an absolutely stunning homemade bouquet of wild flowers. All you have to do is some hunting around (Early morning is best – fresh stock! or simply ask the workers if they have any stock in the back) and you have an equally stunning wedding whilst knocking a few 00’s off the price!
If you’re interested and local to Nottingham there is a fantastic Charity shop which has its own bridal boutique! yea over to the Nottinghamshire Hospice shop in Sherwood linked here and just pop upstairs, It is a dream come true!
Ahh.. I’ll just keep dreaming of my own wedding day! 😉
